The BaZi 八字Birth Chart – is ultimately a map of how “we” (as Humans) are an intersection of energy coming from the Heavens (Heavenly Stems) and the Earth (Earthly Branches).
The ancients believe, that at the exact time and location you are born, you inhale the Qi of the universe at that exact position – which comprises your unique Astrology Chart – your constitutional energy – that defines who you are, your characteristics, and your destiny.
The true SOLAR calendar start date of the Chinese Astrological 2026 New Year begins at 04:02am (UTC+8) on February 4th – this is when the Spring season starts, Lì Chūn 立春.
One of my longest beloved Teachers, Master Xhongxian Wu speaks to the THREE New Years – Cosmological, Solar and Lunar.
- Cosmological New Year (Alchemical Qi): of Bing Wu 丙午Yang Fire Horse: Starts January 20th, 2026: with DaHan 大寒 / Major Cold.
- Solar New Year (Yang Qi): Starts February 4th, 2026: with the official start of Spring, Lì Chūn 立春
- Lunar New Year (Yin Qi): Starts February 17th, 2026: with second New Moon after Winter Solstice – and is culturally celebrated in China with Spring Festival, ChunJie 春節
From the precise timing of the SOLAR NEW YEAR, we can draw up a Ba Zi (4 Pillars) Birth Chart for the 2026 Year – Bing Wu 丙午Yang Fire Horse YEAR.
ANALYSIS of 2026 Year Pillar
Heavenly Stem 丙 Bing – Yang Fire
On top of the Yearly Pillar: we see the Heavenly stem (one of the Wǔ Xíng 五行 = Five Phases) as 丙Bing – Yang Fire. Yang fire symbolically has an architype of the Sun – and is big, bright and warm by nature.
In a world of non-native EMF Light Sources – this year will beg you to relate differently with our planet’s primary energy source – THE SUN.
Unfortunately, the modern human has lost its primary relationship to the most overlooked macronutrient, and the energy source and invigoration we all receive from proper Sun light relationship.
CIRCADIAN RHYTHM SICKNESS – can cause all kinds of mitochondrial, metabolism and energy dysfunction, that I see clinically in multiple symptomatic manifestations (Gut, Hormones, Weight, Hormonal imbalances, Mental Health, Insomnia, etc).
While the remedy is simple – convincing people to do what it takes to restore their relationship to the SUNSHINE can be challenging for city folk…we live in a captured culture of GO GO GO, that is perpetuated by non-native light sources wreaking havoc on our biology.
SUN & LIGHT RELATIONSHIP TIPS to establish a HEALTHY CIRCADIAN RHYTHM
- “Sunrise Eyes”: Wake up – GO OUTSIDE and view the SUNRISE with your naked eyes (no glasses or contacts, no windows): 3+ minutes, ideally 20+ minutes
- (if you can) Put your bare feet on the earth for extra grounding while you view
- Eat dinner at least 4-5 hours before sleeping
- Use incandescent lighting in your home (swap out LED lighting, or use “warm” circadian lighting)
- Minimize (or avoid) ALAN = Artificial Light at Night
- Avoid screens 1-2 hrs prior to sleeping (artificial blue light)
- Dim your room / house in the evenings
- Remove the phone and all screens from the bedroom
- Wear blue block glasses, or yellow tinted glasses when using digital screens – especially in the evenings. Yellow tint during day, Orange tint during evenings.
- Black out all light exposure while sleeping: black out curtains, tape over appliance lights, etc
Remember YOU ARE NATURE – you are not separate from Nature.
The beauty of Classical Chinese Astrology is that it gives us an alchemical picture of the elements of Nature, coordinate with a relationship of Sky (Heavens) to Earth – and how that translates into the Human experience.
Virtues of Yang Fire: Like the Sun sets and rises every day – Yang Fire (energetically, and people who have Yang fire within them) operate best with ROUTINE – around sleep and wake cycles.
- Yang Fire holds following characteristics of: Manners, Etiquette, Integrity, Inspiration, Elegance, COURTESY. There is a natural animation and performance – visibility and desire towards being “seen”!
- Yang fire loves variety, excitement JOY and RADIANCE!
- Like the sun, there is a “flare” to this type of energy – hence enjoying variety or not being still – which can lead to attention going everywhere, or lack of focused attention.
- Yang Fire ILLUMINATES – loves to shine the light on everything!
- Yang fire likes to create warmth – in the form of gifts – seeing Joy & brightness in others.
- When motivated, fire can move extremely FAST (even faster than the Wood element we have felt in 2024 and 2025)
Key qualities of Yang Fire: Generous, open, sincere, just, upright and noble. Yang fire stands for the Sun or great heat, being strong, bright and hot – symbolizing propriety and courtesy, integrity and quick wit. Yang fire is usually generous and open. There is a sense of vibrancy, vivaciousness, and warm disposition, but can also be gloomy if “clouded”, and not very good at expressing emotions or feelings. Generally, Yang Fire is noble, upright and sincere. And as it stands – Yang
Rise, Relax, take time off and then Rise again!
Shadow side of Yang Fire: Yang Fire can have a very SHORT TEMPER – like the flares of the sun, hot and big and then done. Fire is fickle and coupled with big flares can be CRUEL.
- Fire moves fast – which can lead to Impatience.
- Because fire likes to be looked at and seen – there can be a Self-Centered aspect – “Look at me” energy!
- Yang Fire thinks the world revolves around them.
Earthly Branch 午Wu – Horse
On the bottom, below the Heavenly Stem influence of Yang Fire, sits the Earthly Branch of 午Wu – Horse, a Fire animal. The polarity of the Horse sits in the Yang position in the order of animals / seasons and clock, but within its core are the hidden stems of 丁Ding – Yin Fire, and 己Ji – Yin Earth. The Horse is a one of the 4 “Cardinal” animals, that sit in 4 directions, or Apex of the full expression of the seasonal energy – and are said to hold the “pure Qi” of the Earthly Branches. The Horse is the only cardinal animal that has 2 hidden stems – and sits in the SOUTHERN position of the 4 directions.
丁Ding – Yin Fire has the symbolic archetype of a man-made fire, or candle flame. This type of fire energy is fickle, needs fuel, and can literally burn the house down, and burn itself out.
With the influence of Yin Fire, the Horse holds a lot of Passion, Inspiration, Dynamic, Exuberance, BLAZING TRAILS Inspiration, Leadership, Vitality & Unbridled Energy!
Many of these Yin Fire qualities overlap with Yang Fire as well ☺
The Yin Fire influence within the Horse needs to expand and spread – it needs FREEDOM to run! Freedom to wander without rules, to ROAM, and feel the soft (yin) Earth below. And like a candle (Yin Fire) unattended, or tipped over setting the whole room aflame, Horse also is known to have a BIG TEMPER. They can be insensitive, quick to decisions, and if wronged their temper can spread like wildfire, burning everything and everyone around them…they can also run off easily, with their attention constantly flickering around. Polarity resides in the Cardinal animals – they literally sit on the “poles” – and so the Horse is known simultaneously for its heart centered passion, and insensitive abandon, it’s leadership and flightiness…
己Ji – Yin Earth is also energetically a hidden stem within the Horse, bringing a grounded state of rooting, and is why the Horse likes to come HOME.
火 Huǒ – FIRE ELEMENT
As we see – the Yearly Pillar Bing Wu 丙午Yang Fire Horse is bringing a whole lotta FIRE ENERGY (both Yang & Yin) into the 2026 year!
Features of FIRE (both Yin & Yang expressions) – Fire sparkles & shines and loves to be SEEN. Fire is very connected to Spirit and is in a constant state of illumination. Work related to or dependent on the creation of light or heat, generosity, change, inspiration and vigor.
